A bleh first period, worse broadcast

By at 21 November, 2009, 7:55 pm

Honestly I haven’t spent much time watching the Devils get destroyed by the Dallas power play in the first period, as I’ve been doing other things but seemingly every time I turn on the TV the Stars have tacked on another goal.  Oh, I did see Brian Rolston actually score on a breakaway (what a shock) in the […]

A Battle Saturday Preview: Fla-NYR, Buf-Ott, NYI-Stl, NJD-Dal

By at 21 November, 2009, 4:32 pm

It’s another busy hockey Saturday and that means all four Battle teams in the mix tonight. While there’s an early matinee between Calgary and LA with Alberta leading 1-zip on another goal from white hot Jarome Iginla with an assist from Jamie Lundmark, we’ll certainly be locked into how the locals fare.
Let’s quickly take a […]

Nolan burns Isles late in Wild defeat

By at 21 November, 2009, 10:47 am

Owen Nolan’s late goal in regulation burned the Islanders as the Wild cameback to defeat them 3-2 last night at Excel Energy Center in St. Paul. The wily vet accounted for two of Minnesota’s three goals in what amounted to a disappointment for the visitors, who fell to 2-1-2 on their seven-game road trip.
“We’ve had […]

Devils lose Zubrus, shootout in Music City

By at 20 November, 2009, 2:49 pm

Last night’s game in Nashville was about as even as you could get for sixty-five minutes as both teams put up the same number of goals (with each team having one player get both goals) and shots on a night where the Devils again came from behind twice to force a shootout.  This time however, the shootout wasn’t […]

Preview NYI at Min: Surging Islanders visit St. Paul

By at 20 November, 2009, 12:18 pm

Things have been going extremely well for these rebuilding Islanders. On what’s a lengthy seven-game road swing, they have played superb hockey so far, earning six of a possible eight points. In fact, the only two points they failed to get were due to the ever cheesy skill competition which is always hit or miss. […]

Shanny retires, more comings and goings

By at 19 November, 2009, 8:12 pm

Just in case you’ve been secluded for the last few days, Brendan Shanahan made his retirement official Tuesday.  I admit even though Shanny started and ended his career in New Jersey, I don’t really think of him as a Devil first.  Perhaps because I wasn’t a hockey fan during his first tenure when he was […]

Brutal call screws Red Wings, Time for NHL to change rule

By at 19 November, 2009, 1:02 pm

By now, the hockey world knows what happened last night at Hockey Town between the Stars and Red Wings. If you saw it, then indeed you know how brutal it really was. Of course, we’re referring to one of the worst calls of all-time going against Detroit in a 3-1 home loss to Dallas.
It took […]

Panthers claw past Sabres

By at 18 November, 2009, 10:33 pm

Perhaps the Sabres were due for a letdown. In front of their home fans, they were clawed by the Panthers literally, 6-2 at HSBC Arena earlier tonight, making it only the fifth regulation defeat in 18 games this season. The six goals were the most they allowed so far.
For whatever reason, Lindy Ruff’s club was […]

It’s been a while

By at 18 November, 2009, 9:33 am

The “view” has been on work mode – and has been out of action.  However, we have been aware of the great things that have been happening in our world of Islanders hockey.
1.  The emergence of JT.  Since all of the NHL brainiacs want us to fail – they are not even embracing this story […]
