Projecting the Rangers

By at 24 August, 2009, 12:59 am

A long time ago, we used to do projections. Let’s just say buying into silly magazine predictions of big things to come for Michal Grosek and Jaroslav “Yogi” Svejkovsky wasn’t one of our shining moments.
Back then, I was a fantasy hockey rookie taking part in a league with Sabre extraordinaire Brian Sanborn. Not surprisingly, I […]

Brodeur talks with fans

By at 21 August, 2009, 5:18 pm

Recently, Devils netminder Martin Brodeur answered fans questions via the official Devil team site. Mike Hayes was nice enough to send us the cool interactive feature. With the full Q & A here, here were our favorites:
How would you describe the feeling of breaking the all-time wins record?
Lakehurst, N.J.
Martin Brodeur: It was a […]

By at 21 August, 2009, 1:44 pm

In case you missed it yesterday, the Sabres added more grit inking veteran forward Jeff Cowan. The 32 year-old grinder has spent parts of nine seasons in the NHL totaling 47 goals and 34 assists for 81 points while racking up 695 penalty minutes over 413 games.
After getting into 88 combined games over two seasons […]

Sad news for the Capitals family…

By at 21 August, 2009, 1:40 pm

My deepest sympathies go out to Jose Theodore of the Washington Capitals on the passing of his young 2 month old son. It was announced on a Montreal radio station on Thursday.
The Theodore family have a three year old daughter.
It is quite an agonozing thing to lose a child at such a young age. […]

No Hockey News – Everton rebounds big

By at 21 August, 2009, 8:37 am

Nothing new on the hockey front.
However, my favorite soccer team Everton FC (UK Premiership), rebounded from their 6-1 drubbing last Sunday at the hands of Arsenal, with a 4-0 win at Goodison Park against Sigma Olomouc (Czech). The victory made it just about certain for the Toffees to move to the next round of […]

The return of NYHR as we’ll take a look at all the Battle teams (Buf, NJD, NYI, […]

Gomez ready for Montreal

By at 20 August, 2009, 4:57 pm

For one former player who played on both sides of the Hudson, he’s about to go into a pressure cooker. If playing here was challenging enough for Scott Gomez, the 29 year-old Alaskan playmaking pivot is about to begin his Montreal Canadien career with his third team.
Coming off a disappointing second year on Broadway in […]

TV Schedule announced

By at 19 August, 2009, 9:46 pm

Earlier today, the NHL announced the TV schedule for the 2009-10 season. Here’s a little bit from the official press release over on the media site:
The NHL regular-season opens on Oct. 1 – just 43 days from today – with national doubleheaders in the U.S. and Canada. That night, VERSUS will present the Washington Capitals visiting […]

Bertuzzi – returns to Detroit – Big Whoop

By at 18 August, 2009, 7:05 pm

am sure that Islander fans are so disappointed that we were not able to sign Todd Bertuzzi to make a magical return to Long Island.
Yea – right.
This was the genius that said at a Booster Club meeting in 1997 or so, that when a member asked Todd about what he wanted to do after […]
