Rangers pound Avalanche for much needed win

By at 28 February, 2009, 10:26 pm

Six goals were actually scored. Not only did the Rangers find the back of the net with unfamiliar regularity but they pounded the Avalanche literally beating them up on the ice as well as the scoreboard which read 6-1 when all was said and done.
This was a necessity for new coach John Tortorella’s club who […]

Calling For A $abre $urrender

By at 28 February, 2009, 8:46 pm

My message tonight is simple. Here is the email that I would send right now if I could (Note that email address are purely fictitious):
Subject: Surrender
Mr. Darcy Regier,
I write you this letter as a Buffalo Sabres fan for almost 27 years now.  First off, I wanted to say that you have done an […]

Guerin on the move?

By at 28 February, 2009, 7:39 pm

Islander captain Bill Guerin was a late scratch before the drop of the puck versus Buffalo at Nassau Coliseum.
According to TSN, it appears Guerin could be on the move though the destination still is unknown. He does have a no-trade clause which would have to be waived to go elsewhere.
In 61 games during his second […]

Welcome Andy McDonald to your first NHL game, replacing Brendan Witt!

The only good thing about this game, is that I am on a 3 game live winning streak – and I am thinking that we will hit 4. With the Miller injury – Patrick LaLime will have […]

Deadline Announcement

By at 28 February, 2009, 4:47 pm

With the March 4 trade deadline approaching this Wednesday at 3 PM, we’ll be having a deadline day complete with trades as they come in.
As one of the most exciting days for hockey fans gets closer, we’ll have a list of who goes. I’m extremely pumped for the festivities and wonder which stars will be […]

Devils steamroll over Florida

By at 28 February, 2009, 2:25 pm

With the Devils currently holding the third seed and Florida sitting sixth in the conference tonight’s matinee at the Rock shaped up to be a playoff preview.  Instead one team came to play and the other came I guess spoiling to fight anyone and everyone.  Florida had as many fights as goals, and scored almost as much after […]

Super Saturday

By at 28 February, 2009, 1:17 pm

It’s another action packed Saturday of puck with 22 teams on the ice including three matinees. Two are underway with the seemingly invincible Devils up 2-0 on the sixth seeded Panthers in a game of interest to others.
Apparently, it’s the Zach Parise show so far with the Hart candidate tallying No.’s 37 and 38. Martin […]

Malkin draws Pens closer

By at 27 February, 2009, 11:33 pm

Evgeni Malkin’s power play goal lifted the Pens over the Blackhawks 5-4 in overtime at The United Center earlier tonight.
The league’s leading scorer who had been quiet till that point scored with three seconds remaining on the Pens’ four-on-three taking advantage of a bad tripping penalty by rookie Kris Versteeg late in regulation.
Minus team captain […]

Witt out for 5

By at 27 February, 2009, 9:10 pm

I can definitely go the nasty route and say that Colie Campbell is ridiculous….\
However, I can see the reasoning…
Witt gets 5 for the hit on Niklas Hagman. As Billy Jaffe said on the broadcast last night, because Witt did not have his stick, the tendency is to get the hands up before […]

Toronto likes shootouts

By at 27 February, 2009, 7:06 am

Two of them in two consecutive nights. Six games in a row, that the Leafs have had to play past the 60 minute mark. But they live for the extra time, apparently, and goals from Jason Blake an Tim Stapleton (first NHL Game), gave the visitors the extra point.
Two two-goal deficits overcome by […]
